Geoinformation Systems - Online 3D Viewer BS Contact Geo gets certification for US Navy

During this years computer graphic fair Siggraph 2010 (25. to 29. of July) it was informed that US Navy has certified BS Contact Geo for their applications. 3D Geo Viewer meets their requirements for geo-referenced viewer tools. "This opens Bitmanagement the door to the important US market", says Peter Schickel, CEO of Bitmanagement Software GmbH, Berg near Munich, Germany. “Finally we owe this entrée to the real time rendering performance of our Geo Viewer which enables stable free fly over functionality", says Schickel. A velocity test has shown that BS Contact is nine times faster than comparable viewer.

Due to the continuous enhancements BS Contact provides in its 7.2 version the decisive functions for the visualization of Geo data in the internet, like earth viewing projects, navigation applications in motor cars and city mapping.

These functionalities both the user and the developer can integrate in its application:

• stand-alone or browser plugin
• OpenGL / DirectX
• VRML, X3D (incl. all X3D geo nodes), CityGML, Collada, Google KMZ
• globe view, map view, city view(LOD), street level view, interior view
• interactive audio and video applications
• interactive navigation in the viewer (moving, zooming)
• fly over function as well as „6 degree of freedom“ input device.

The visualization component BS Contact Geo which can be adapted in OEM concepts has a small size for downloads and is supported by BS Tiler and BS SDK for data preparation and data reduction. BS Tiler is a tool for automated optimization of data for fast rendering in BS Contact Geo of elevation models, vectors, point clouds and satellite image textures, automatic triangulation and generating tile and LOD structures. BS SDK Package includes the documentation and tools for integrating the software in third party products and user applications.

Among the most important applications - beside the military defends sector – are the environmental protection, archaeology, marketing for a number of branches like tourism, real-estate, city planning, as well as disaster protection and disaster management.
